Hi, I’m Ruth
Ruth arrived in October 2017. She and Rose were our first sheep rescues. She was in a trailer being towed by a truck, whose driver decided to run from the police in what news stations later called a “high-speed chase.” The driver crashed the trailer during the chase, and several of the goats and sheep inside died from their injuries. Ruth was one of the lucky survivors. The drivers were charged with over 80 offenses, including animal cruelty.
Ruth is shy and very selective about who she trusts. After experiencing the trauma of surviving a crash, she was very wary of humans. It took her many months to feel comfortable with human interaction. While she is still wary of strangers, her personality has truly blossomed. She will accept affection from the staff and volunteers she knows and trusts. She often leads the herd when Rose is napping, and loves scratching her bum on any gate, tree or barn door she can find!
