Hi, I’m Mickie
Mickie was rescued alongside his sister, Sammie, and mother, Frankie, in late August 2018. They were among the last animals rescued during the cruelty case in Lapeer County, Michigan.
During a final sweep of the barn on the property, his mother popped her head up over the edge of a filthy trough where they had been taking refuge. The three of them were brought to their forever home at Barn Sanctuary.
At the sanctuary, this sweet little family was given a fresh start. He and his sister, who could've both fit in the palm of your hand, began to grow - soon growing larger than their own mother! They were introduced to the other bantam couple, Napoleon and Natasha. Once Mickie was all grown up, he wasn't too impressed with Napoleon, so he and his sister moved out and into their own coop.
Mickie is very shy, but loves to keep a close eye on volunteers and makes sure that their cleaning skills are up to his standards. He loves to relax on his perch with his sister, who he is very protective of.
