Hi, I’m Mary Jane (M.J.)
In May of 2019, Mary Jane was found wandering in a Meijer parking lot in western Michigan where she was found to be riddled with parasites.
A volunteer was able to transport her here to Barn Sanctuary. She immediately began treatment and was able to fully recover before joining her friends.
Shortly after coming to the sanctuary, staff began to notice that MJ's eggs were breaking in her nesting box. Their shells were so thin that they would break under the weight of her small body.
The Animal Care team were rightfully concerned and devised a care plan to help M.J. keep her nutrients replenished and keep her from laying weak eggs. She now lives happily - and healthily - with her friend, Izzy, and her protector, Roy.
