Hi, I’m Ellen
We were contacted about Ellen in February, 2018. She had a leg deformity and the farmer no longer wanted her or knew what to do with her. Both her front legs bowed out, making it difficult for her to walk.
When we picked up Ellen we noticed two baby goats, born only hours earlier, laying face down on the ground, motionless. The farmer agreed to surrender all three goats to Barn Sanctuary. Ellen, Portia and Twitch were all rescued on that day and taken straight to the hospital for examination.
Ellen was given splints to use until we were able to custom order leg braces for her. With her braces and physical therapy she was able to fully recover over time. Her legs are now straight and she can run, play and explore the pasture like a “normal” goat. When she’s not hanging out with Twitch and Portia, Ellen loves spending time with her bestie, Martin. She’s kind, playful and curious, and likes to stay in the company of her friends.
