Hi, I’m Ben
Ben and his buddy, Jerry, were among the first animals rescued from a hoarding case in the summer of 2018. Dozens of animals were living in squalor and suffering from extreme neglect. With the help of local law enforcement, we were able to rescue all of the animals on the property.
Ben was fed a diet of cat food, which is high in fat and protein and did not provide him with the nutrients he needed. Because Ben is a breed of turkey traditionally raised for meat, he was bred to gain weight very rapidly. As a result, he gained an unhealthy amount of weight that posed a danger to his health. Since coming to Barn Sanctuary, he has been on a proper diet, shed some of those pounds, and is now a healthy dude.
Ben loves to show off his magnificent feathers and snood for anyone who happens to pop in and visit with him.
