Hi, I’m AXle
In June of 2017, Barn Sanctuary received a call from Black Sheep Crossing Animal Sanctuary about two donkey families in need of a new home. Their caretakers, being in their 70s, were having a hard time caring for some of their larger animals and asked US to help find their donkeys a new forever home.
Knowing it would be hard to get the 7-donkey family re-homed together, Barn Sanctuary agreed to take over their care. Axle arrived with his mother (Virginia), two sisters (Sylvia and Siggie), cousin (Mary Pete), and friends Blossom and Beulah. Sadly, in December 2017, Virginia and Sylvia passed away from old age.
Axle is the only male donkey in the herd. He is also the youngest of the bunch. He is a very curious and clever fella and loves horsing around with his sister Siggie. During the summer, you can find him chasing the other donkeys around the big pasture. Even though he’s still very shy, his heart is easily won over with a good brushing.
Your sponsorship will help provide daily care, regular medical checkups, and cover any unexpected emergency care. Please sponsor Axle to provide the care he deserves!
